Sermon, October 28, 2012

I’ve never been on trial for believing that Jesus was dead, made alive again, and lives as Himself today.  Yet, that is what I believe, what this church believes and what Christians around the world  believe.  In fact, the entire Christian faith rests upon this one act….Jesus raised from the dead.  Manning, a favorite author of mine says this, “the most radical demand of Christian faith lies in summoning  the courage to say yes to the present risenness of Jesus Christ.”  Our hope for you today is that no matter what your day, week, month, year or season of life; no matter your age, stage, race or status, that today the risen and present Jesus would intersect your life and bring help, healing and hope into the deepest places within you.

You are not alone!

Sermon, October 28, 2012 – Liz Honeyford Acts 26

Acts 26

  1. Previously Paul was before a gentile ruler, now he is before a Jewish king.  He changes his approach to presenting the gospel.  What are your experiences in sharing your faith with friends?
  2. This is the third time that Paul gives the testimony of meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus.  Can you share a moment when you received a ‘swift spiritual kick’ and it altered your reality forever?
  3. In verse 20 Paul talks about “demonstrate their repentance by their deeds” How are you living differently as a disciple of Jesus?  What has changed in your life?
  4. Paul’s defense is, “this person came back from the dead and told me to do it.”  Why would Paul do this (verse 17)?  Check verse 31 to see what the king and governor think of this defense.  Do you believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead and is present now?
